Week 14 1920

This short week we will work on building pet houses in Desmos! This is a 100 point summative assignment, and serves as the “quiz checkpoint” for the Graphing Equations unit. This project is due at the end of class on December 2 (B) and December 3 (A). (You will have plenty of in-class time to work on it; no need to work on it over the break!!) →PLEASE BRING A CHARGED CHROMEBOOK.←  Project Requirements: I created at least 4 vertical line segments using restrictions on the range and wrote the equations and slopes of the lines.  I created at least 4 horizontal line segments using restrictions on the domain and wrote the equations and slopes of the lines.  I created at least 2 slanted line segments using the parent function and restrictions on the domain and/or range and wrote the equations and slopes of the lines.  I have provided the domain and range of all 10 lines, in interval notation.  I added the image of my pet in the doorway of the house.  I peer reviewed another stude

Week 13 1920

This week we will continue our Graphing Linear Equations unit. A reminder that 90% of the HW for a unit must be completed ON TIME in order to qualify for any potential retakes. Please stay on top of your HW! We are reaching the point in Algebra 1 where it is CRITICAL for students to show up with a charged Chromebook EVERY DAY. We will be using Desmos a lot from here on out, as it is built into our SOL. You can read more about that here and learn more about Desmos here . This week : Monday: Counting Slope, HOY, VUX Tuesday/Wednesday: Graphing Given a Point and a Slope Thursday/Friday: HW quiz: PS ; Graphing from the Slope-Intercept Form of an Equation Reminders for help : NHS Tutor Link Ms. B's YouTube Channel - there are a lot of easter eggs hidden; consider checking it out. Playlists are organized by unit. Math Honor Society (Mu Alpha Theta) - drop in tutoring: Tuesday and Thursday mornings; 8:30 - 9:00 am in room 1206. Congratulations to the students of the w

Week 12 1920

This week we will wrap up our Functions unit with a 75 point quest (smaller than a test, bigger than a quiz) summative on Monday and Tuesday. We will then move onto our next BIG UNIT in Algebra 1: Graphing Linear Equations. Please stay on top of your HW! Study Guide for Monday/Tuesday : Different representations of Functions: Tables, Graphs, Equations Is it a Function?  Domain and Range in Interval Notation This week : Monday/Tuesday: Functions Quest Wednesday/Thursday: Graphing Equations with X/Y intercepts Friday: Counting Slope, HOY, VUX Reminders for help : NHS Tutor Link Ms. B's YouTube Channel Math Honor Society (Mu Alpha Theta) - drop in tutoring: Tuesday and Thursday mornings; 8:30 - 9:00 am in room 1206.  Congratulations to the students of the week : Quinn Gorman (motivate) Blake Reed (respect) These two have demonstrated an impeccable work ethic this week! Please see me for your Rockin' Rams pass and your piece of candy! Let's h

Week 11 1920

Q1 is officially in the books ! Your grades are finalized and what you see in the gradebook is your official grade for Q1. A lot of people have asked me how to improve their grade... moving into Q2, consider: Do you do your HW?  Do you bring your HW to class to turn in? Do you ask Qs about your HW? Do you ask Qs in class?  Do you seek help when you don't understand something? Do you take advantage of office hours? Do you take advantage of math honor society for drop-in help?  Do you have an NHS tutor? Where do you write down assignments and due dates?  How do you keep your papers organized?  This short week in Alg 1 : Monday/Tuesday: Teachers only Wednesday (A Day): Domain and Range; Interval Notation Thursday/Friday: Unit Review - Functions  Upcoming Dates : (subject to change) Nov 11/12, Day 26: Summative (Quiz) Study Guide : Different representations of Functions: Tables, Graphs, Equations Is it a Function?  Domain and Range in Interval Nota
