Week 4 1920

This week we start the first big unit in Algebra: Equations.

A couple of notes:

1. Khan Academy - Students, please join Khan Academy at www.khanacademy.org, signing in with Google (SID@lcps.org and your LEAD password), and join with the following codes under the 'Teachers' tab:

Block 1 - 93GPJDTB
Block 5 - 2XTHDT4A
Block 6 - US6T6G9S

2. Upcoming assignments - I have added a 'Live Syllabus and Working Calendar' under the Classwork tab of each class section on Google Classroom. Here you can see what we did in class, just like the stream. Additionally, you can see tentative dates for the upcoming unit. All dates are subject to change.

3. Missing assignments - This weekend I discovered a 'disconnect' between the gradebook and Google Classroom. ParentVue and StudentVue will give you the most accurate picture of what work is missing... do not rely on the weekly emails from Google to tell you what is missing. Work will show as 'missing' in Google Classroom unless you physically mark you've turned it in.

I have put the dates in Google Classroom as a courtesy so students can see what is due and when in their personal Google calendars, but unless they 'turn it in' in the ether, it will show as missing there.

You can find support on how to mark an assignment as done HERE.

Phoenix is where I actually mark grades - ParentVue and Student Vue provide the most accurate reflection of missing work.

4. RemindStudents, please join the Remind. Text @msbrvh to 81010

THIS WEEK:
  • Friday 9/13/Monday 9/16 - One step equations
  • Tuesday/Wednesday: Two-Step Equations
  • Thursday/Friday: Multi-step Equations
Students should be anticipating their next quiz around 9/23 (A) and 9/24 (B) on
  • One Step Equations
  • Two Step Equations
  • Multi-step Equations
Congratulations to the students of the week:

El McLain (advocate)
Hailey Cintrenbaum (motivate)

These two have demonstrated an impeccable work ethic this week! Please see me for your Rockin' Rams pass and your piece of candy!

Let's have a great week!

Week of 5/4/20

This week in Algebra 1… May 4, 2020 This week we will continue OPERATIONS ON POLYNOMIALS. Monday and Tuesday have been designated as catch up days for students who are now joining continuity of education for the first time. We will continue to post a HYPERDOC each Monday on Google Classroom with a weekly agenda to guide you through a specific module in Edmentum, scaffolded with videos and Desmos activities. The May 4th hyperdoc can be found here: Week of May 4th Hyperdoc . We have broken down the modules into A/B lessons. If you prefer to keep a daily schedule you may break the FIRST/THEN boxes into two days. We have simply a suggested daily pacing guide to help you work through the modules in a timely, manageable manner. At the end of each week, we will ask you to complete an exit ticket in the form of a Google Form. These are linked in your hyperdoc. The exit tickets will give us feedback on the amount of work we are assigning and will inform the discussion in our Monday

Week 14 1920

This short week we will work on building pet houses in Desmos! This is a 100 point summative assignment, and serves as the “quiz checkpoint” for the Graphing Equations unit. This project is due at the end of class on December 2 (B) and December 3 (A). (You will have plenty of in-class time to work on it; no need to work on it over the break!!) →PLEASE BRING A CHARGED CHROMEBOOK.←  Project Requirements: I created at least 4 vertical line segments using restrictions on the range and wrote the equations and slopes of the lines.  I created at least 4 horizontal line segments using restrictions on the domain and wrote the equations and slopes of the lines.  I created at least 2 slanted line segments using the parent function and restrictions on the domain and/or range and wrote the equations and slopes of the lines.  I have provided the domain and range of all 10 lines, in interval notation.  I added the image of my pet in the doorway of the house.  I peer reviewed another stude
